Eastwood CFC Under 18's maintained their unbeaten run after a 1-1 draw with Southwell City at Rushcliffe Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Despite going ahead through Jack Evans after excellent build-up play from Darnell Forde and Harry Harrison, Southwell equalised against the run of play early in the second half leaving Manager Simon Bryant frustrated by the result yet proud of his players.

Speaking after the game Bryant said, "The surface wasn't particularly great today and the strong winds were always going to be a factor yet I thought the players adapted, attempted to play whenever possible and played the conditions well".

"We threw everything including the kitchen sink at a resilient Southwell side but unfortunately we couldn't quite find the breakthrough".

"Credit to their keeper who has made two brave blocks but overall I thought we were the better side and deserved to win the game".

"The most pleasing and positive thing from our point of view is that the group are hungry to win games of football and weren't happy with a point".

"The remainder of this season is about building an environment, understanding our individual and collective strengths and weaknesses plus a positive mindset that with a few additions, will enable us to challenge at the top end of this league come August".

Next up for our youth team is Mansfield Town next week.
