Biography

‘DT’ also boasts an extensive playing career having worn the shirts of Nottingham Forest, Chesterfield, Matlock Town, Ilkeston Town, Retford Utd, Carlton Town, Gresley Rovers amongst many more. Began football as a youngster at Nottingham Forest, before moves to Chesterfield and Matlock Town.

In 2006 Thomas signed forms with Carlton Town scoring a hat-trick on his home debut. In a statement on the clubs website Town Chairman Mick Garton said: “The signing of Darryl Thomas is one of the reasons Carlton play at the level we do. He has to go down as one of the greatest goal scorers at our level of football over many years. Daryll went on to score 29 goals for the Milers in the 2007-2008 season and his 32 goals in the 2008-2009 season helped see Carlton make the playoffs before going down to Stoksbridge Park Steels and a certain Jamie Vardy who helped them to victory that night.

Another career highlight as he won promotion via the play offs to the Northern Premier League with Ilkeston Town, scoring two goals in the semi-final and a goal in the final.

He moved to the London area from Nottingham shortly after and signing for Slough Town. Before returning north with local sides Dunkirk and back for his second spell at Carlton Town.
