It took until the 30th minute for the game to produce anything of real note, when Nathan Robinson committed a reckless challenge and was shown red, putting Hucknall on the back foot.
Just five minutes later Eastwood made the most of their one man advantage and Frazer Dulson tucked home an effort from just outside the area, instilling the home fans with hope of seeing their first victory this season.
But Hucknall weren’t going to roll over so easily and almost immediately took to the other end with real purpose. They found their luck was in as a deflected shot from Adam Nelson found it’s way into the back of the net and gave themselves similar hope.
The rain began to drizzle on a cold night, and Town must have been taking note as they looked to add more rain on Eastwood's parade. Ben Waplington hit the target and put Hucknall ahead just before half time.
It was Eastwood that initially stepped up their game in the second half after a partially cleared ball sat up nicely for Jake Danby to strike sweetly into the bottom corner from a good way out.
Hucknall were hungry for the win and showed why they're in such good form by taking the lead once again, Nelson nodding in his second at the near post from a well worked free kick in the 85th minute.
With time ticking down, Eastwood were desperate to find a reply and prove they’re better than their recent form suggests. A long period of sustained pressure eventually paid off when Nick Hewer pounced upon a dangerous ball that pin-balled around Town’s defence, treating the home fans to a late equaliser for their patience.
The home team smelled blood and pushed Hucknall right to the end, but it was to finish in a stalemate. All in all a fair result.
