ECFC 4-2 Bulwell

A comfortable win yesterday and alot easier than expected.

When we went 0-1 down from Bulwell's first shot, I thought game on, but the goal woke us up, not that we started badley because we didn't, we just went into another gear.

It was good to have Warren Hatfield back in the side and with new signing Oliver Buxton coming in at centre back we looked a better side than the previous week, it allowed us to juggle a few things around and change the formation again, something we did alot pre-season and the lads just adapt really well.

When Bulwell scored I thought it was against the run of play and we just continued to play our way into the lead. Warren hatfield jinked his way through Bulwells defence to equalise and from that point on we dominated the half getting further goals from captain Jack Havron, Jake Danby and new boy Buxton, the only blott was a bit of poor defending to give Bulwell and second goal.

At half-time we said we felt the game was won and we needed to do an exercise in managing the game out, keeping a clean sheet 2nd half and play more counter attack football. I think we did that very well and not being unkind to Bulwell but we could have had ten more goals but for some die hard defending some good goalkeeping and a bit of poor finishing.

Lots of positives out of the game yesterday and hardly any negatives which is nice for a change. Kione Gordon and Ryan Williams came on and did well and it was really good to have young Luke Coxon back on the team sheet and also on the pitch for his first few minutes in over 7 weeks.
