ECFC 1-0 Collingham

Paul MacFarland 'Apologies to everyone last night for our poor performance, we have no excuses, we just had an off day and to be fair Collingham they deserved to get something out the game just for there endeavour, they pushed us right to the wire.'

Our play from the first minute to the last was poor with a ten minute burst of better stuff when we put all three subs on with half an hour left to play. That was a gamble as with had no further subs left had we picked up an injury we would have gone down to ten men but it paid off as they added a bit of pace and quality to the game Ryan Williams supplied the quality with a cross only he could have made and Shaun Roberts the finish to send a sigh of relief around the ground and secure all three points. I honestly felt warren Warren Hatfield disallowed goal was not offside and should have counted but the lino stuck the flag up, so no goal. Andy Fretwell in goal played his part also making two or three vital saves and his judgement was perfect when he watched the last kick of the game float over him and onto the top of the bar then out of play!
