ECFC 1-1 Hucknall Town

The teams last met in October in the FA Vase where Town were comfortable winners thrashing Eastwood 5-0. Eastwood have vastly improved since then and have forced themselves into contention for promotion with some impressive league performances. Eastwood were without Jack James for the game and opted to play Kyle McDermott in a midfield 3.

In a very cagey first half with neither keeper being worked Town shaded possession while Eastwood were disappointed with their passing when much to often their final ball let them down.

The second half was far more open with Town creating the first clear chance of the game but Christie couldn't direct his free header from 6 yards on target. Eastwood responded with Paddy Webb and Greg Conn both hitting the upright from set plays. Eastwood then created their first clear cut chance on goal when Paddy Webb got clear of the visiting defence but his effort was well blocked by the keeper.

Town responded and took the lead on 71 minutes. Bannister's free kick was parried by keeper Jack Walker Nelson's followed up effort was blocked but Brian was on hand to finish from close range.

Town's young keeper was called into action 2 minutes later tipping a direct free kick from Jack Smith round his post. Eastwood equalised on 76 minutes when Greg Conn reacted to a loose ball inside the area to score from a tight angle into the roof of the net.

Both sides went in search of the winning goal. McDermott's side foot effort from 18 yards went narrowly wide while Eastwood keeper Walker made a good save with feet off a back pass from Brooks. Philips had the final effort of the game but delayed his shot enabling the home defence to block.
