Eastwood CFC 2-1 Graham Street Prims

Paddy Webb and Kieran Knight were recalled to the starting eleven replacing unavailable pair Rueben Mitchell and Harry Allen from the midweek win at Teversal.

Eastwood started the game on the front foot and forced two early chances but both Paddy Webb and Kieran Knight were denied by two excellent saves by ex Eastwood keeper Fretwell. With Prims playing in a narrow formation Eastwood were getting most of their joy down the flanks with Paddy Webb and Joe Butler causing the visiting full backs all sorts of problems.

After the bright start from Eastwood Prims gradually got themselves into the game and Jack Walker was called upon on twenty minutes saving well down to his left from a powerful strike from the edge of the area. Eastwood opened the scoring on twenty-eight minutes. Danny Hayes headed back into the danger area and Rory Smith nodded home from close range after a typical run into the penalty box. Eastwood almost added a second two minutes later but Joe Butler was unfortunate as his goal bound angled volley drive stuck his own player inside the six yard box with the keeper beaten. In the final minutes of the half Prims forced several set plays and again Jack Walker produced a smart save on forty-four minutes. With Prims looking to force an equaliser it was actually Eastwood who scored the next goal in first half injury time. Paddy Webb got clear down the left side and his cross was finished by Kieran Knight from close range.

In the second half it was the visitors who started more brightly and enjoyed far more possession than the first and forced Jack Walker into a couple of routine saves. Eastwood eventually played themselves into the half but were again frustrated by several excellent saves by Fretwell to deny strikers Joe Butler, Paddy Webb and Kieran Knight. After the opening minutes of the half both sides seem to cancel each other out with both defences looking comfortable. In the final 5 minutes the game came to life again. Fretwell again saved well from Rory Smith and Eastwood Jack Walker produced another fine save turning a goal bound headed effort round his left hand post. On 90 minutes Prims did pull a goal back with an angled drive from outside the area by Hunt to leave Eastwood with a final few nervous minutes of injury time, but they played the game out for a deserved 3 points.
