Eastwood gained their first victory in four games with a hard-fought victory away against in form Radford. Eastwood was without newly injured players Aaron Short and Chay Betteridge but welcomed back Danny Hayes and John Whitehurst to their matchday squad. With Radford only losing one game in their last ten Eastwood was delighted to come away with all three points in a much-improved performance from recent weeks.
Radford created the first clear chance of the game but Sylla fired his shot from inside the area straight at Jake Pearson. Both Radford wide men were causing Eastwood problems in the opening minutes but without further troubling Pearson. Eastwood began to get a foothold in the game especially down the right side with Greg Conn and Kieran Knight linking well. The pair created Eastwood’s first clear chance of the game and from the resulting cross, Jack Allen couldn’t direct his header at the far post on target. In even first half, Eastwood opened the scoring on thirty-five minutes when Danny Hayes glancing header beat the home keeper off a set play.
Half-Time 0-1
Radford came out at the start of the half in a positive fashion looking to get back into the game in the opening minutes but defensively Eastwood coped really well, in fact, Eastwood was the team after the opening minutes who looked more likely to extend their lead. Twice in the half, Paddy Webb had a clear run at the home keeper but was denied by two blocking saves.
Eastwood began to carry a threat going forward with the tireless Whitehurst always looking to get forward to support his strikers. Eastwood secured the points on eighty minutes when Jack Allen reacted to a loose ball to finish from close range.
