Late Palmer hat trick sinks the Red Badgers

Melton Town............5 (Calver 51', Munton 71', Palmer 75', 78',83')
Eastwood CFC........0

Late surge from the Pork Pies sees off a spirited young Eastwood outfit.

The Joint Gaffers made five changes from the Sleaford defeat just three days ago. In came Ross, Slater, White, Kiza and Eastwood Harrison, who makes his senior debut at the age of just seventeen, following his impressive start to the season with the u18’s & u21’s.

There was also a first inclusion in the first team squad for young ‘keeper Corbyn Wright, following his Under 21 debut last week and Lewis Scott’s unavailability. Other absentees included TSL, Barrow, Henderson, Gregory & Smithson - all work or COVID related.

MATCH TIMELINE
21: RED Lavell White tussles with a big central defender. In an attempt to win the ball an elbow is used and the Referee shows White the red card.
51: GOAL Melton finally break the deadlock a quick one-two and a lucky bounce as Ryan Calver, the Melton skipper, pokes past Rathbone
71: GOAL Melton double their advantage. The ball is pulled back and poked into the goal by Zak Munton for his 9th of the campaign
75: GOAL Tyreace Palmer makes his mark on the game and Melton make it three as the ball is given away cheaply.
78: GOAL Palmer with his second and Melton’s fourth as the Red Badgers are punished for poor marking from a corner.
83: GOAL Palmer completes his hat-trick

Having played twice for Notts County’s first team, Palmer is currently spending his second month on loan at Sign Right Park and his goals against the Red Badgers were his 4th 5th and 6th in just over 3 weeks.

The final score was not a true reflection of the Eastwood performance but Melton thoroughly deserved to win despite our fierce efforts for over 70 minutes with 10 men.
