Match Reports From The Bank Holiday Fixtures...

It was a very mixed Bank Holiday weekend results for Eastwood after playing 2 local derbies in 3 days.

On Saturday Eastwood CFC made the short journey to Heanor Town and gained all 3 points with an impressive second half performance scoring 5 goals.

Heanor opened the scoring inside the first 5 minutes.Sleigh capitalised on some hesitant defending and shot from the edge of the area which Eastwood's keeper Walker was disappointed not to keep out.

Eastwood responded almost immediately but Kaylum Mitchell near post effort was well saved.On 20 minutes Walker produced a fine save as the Heanor player found himself totally unmarked inside the penalty area with a clear shot at goal.Paddy Webb had Eastwood's clearest chance of the half when getting clear on goal but saw his effort well saved.

Eastwood started the half well John Whitehurst lobbed effort fell wide of the post.With both sides creating chances it was Eastwood who equalised on 55 minutes.Dave Jones finished from close range after good work by Whitehurst.Heanor created several chances but were wasteful in front of goal.

Eastwood made the home side pay on 70 minutes Dave Jones showed great strength to hold off a defender and finished well into the bottom corner.Jones completed his hat-trick on 80 mins after a neat turn and finish inside the area.Eastwood added 2 more goals on 90 and 94 minutes both scored by Kaylum Mitchell with smart finishes with 2 more assists for Whitehurst.

On Monday in front of a bumper crow, Eastwood CFC were blown away by a Selston side full of pace especially when going forward which Eastwood couldn't cope with and found themselves 3 nil down at half-time. Again Eastwood conceded in the opening minutes of the game when Taylor finished from a tight angle after latching onto a knock down from a set play.

Eastwood actually enjoyed their best period of the game after going behind and created a couple of headed opportunities for Webb and Jones but both couldn't work the keeper. That was as good as it got for the home side as Selston doubled their lead on 25 minutes .Walker saved a powerful shot onto the post but Greenham was on hand to finish.It was no surprise that Selston added a third on 40 minutes when again they broke with pace and Taylor applied a smart finish from inside the penalty area. Selston also hit the wood work 3 times in a dominant half.

HT: ECFC 0-3 Selston

Second half was damage limitation for Eastwood where as Selston were more than happy to keep possession and looked very comfortable. Eastwood where reduced to 10 men on the hour when Jack James received a red card for a late challenge.

Eastwood introduced Knight and Smith into the game and it was Knights powerful run and cross to Mitchell which produced Eastwood's best chance of the half.Walker made several saves in the half for Eastwood the pick of which was in the dying minutes to deny Sutton.
