1st Team gaffer James Jepson gives his post match thoughts after the Red Badgers first pre-season triumph.

Gaffer’s comments after South Normanton win.

“Was first of all good to see Strez and a few old team mates who I was fortunate enough to win a league with at Gresley FC. I thought they edged the first half and rightly so went in 2-1 up”

“We changed the shape at Half time and I thought we dominated the game from then on.”

“It is pre season so of course you can’t get the fluidity you perhaps would expect in a league game But i thought we played with a purpose second half.”

“Kieren Watson was coming short first half and then spinning into holes he perhaps got his joy from at previous clubs but wasn’t getting the ball quick enough but after a chat at half time we created 2 chances for him and of course he put them away. That’s not to say he is someone we need to build a side round, that is us as a squad getting used to his quality and of course he is deadly and will hopefully score many more for the club.”

“The most rewarding thing today for me was to see 3 academy players play and all do really well.”

“Tom Plummer didn’t put a foot wrong and was excellent throughout, CJ came on scored and was a threat until unfortunately he got a slight pull and had to be withdrawn and Connor Lloyd came on and looked like he had played this level for years. All 3 boys got a clap from the squad and was a nice touch.”

“Thank you to everyone who came to support the boys today.”
