Eastwood hit Gresley for six in their third pre-season friendly. Manager James Jepson gives his post match thoughts.....

A first half strike from Joe Harrison put Eastwood one to the good at half time. Then after the break strikes from Kieren Watson, Mason Frizelle and a Patrick Webb hattrick helped Eastwood secure victory over step five Gresley.

After the game first team gaffer James Jepson had this to say; "I thought we were brilliant today played some great stuff and its all starting to come together we look fitter and stronger from start to finish and that goes for everyone. I'm obviously pleased with everyone this afternoon but stand out performers today, Leyton Nethercot has come in and we've made him very welcome he's a fantastic talent and has slotted in alongside Jack James and has not looked out of place one bit the pairing complimented each other quite well, he was strong, won his headers, listened, he's fit and he can play. Curt McDonald was a huge present between the sticks, I thought the midfield three dominated the game, Jared Holmes was different class all match, he got us playing, he got the from ball deep and Gresley just couldn't handle him.

We changed things at half time with it being pre-season, Academy sixteen year old CJ Dunkley has come in again today and has impressed. Patrick Webb has come off the bench to score a hattrick which we expect from him, he's been away but now he is back he looks sharp which gives me a selection dilemma. We got Kieren Watson who played really well first half. Joe Harrison has started his first game today and done excellent his cross for Paddy's header for the second goal was sublime and he's got himself on the score sheet as well. Good overall day nice to see some of the old faces from Gresley, yeah me and Donal certainly enjoyed it and I hope the supporters did as well because that's what its about.

Mason Frizelle came on at half time and didn't put a foot wrong scored a header at the back post. He trained with us Wednesday and played over forty games for Kimberley last season, we'll sit down with him Tuesday and go from there. He's another good player in a queue of a lot of players that are wanting to come. The majority of the list we've said no to but if they're good enough and we feel they'll improve the squad we'll have a look. We've got to keep the squad fresh and keep the lads on there toes they've all got to work hard to one keep their shirt and two to be successful.

Obviously Gresley have played a lot of youngsters today, the management team told me they had a few missing which I'm sure is true, but so did we, we were without the Wrenn brother's, Danny Hayes and one or two others but that's how it is in pre-season. We are certainly happy having headache's of who to play rather than scratching around for players. I can confirm that all twenty players that were published on the squad list a few weeks ago have all signed, so any supporters wanting to sponsor any of the lads your welcome to do so. We are still on the look out for a physio for anyone who is interested in doing it please get in touch, also still on the look out for a few volunteers on a match day to help out with the kit and footballs.

Good day nice to see some smiles in the changing room and around the ground hope to see you all Tuesday."

Cheers

JJ
