Match Preview: Mickleover RBL vs ECFC

Eastwood aim to keep their title chances alive when they visit Mickleover RBL on Saturday.

Eastwood will be hoping to make it five wins in a row when they travel to Mickleover RBL on Saturday afternoon in their first Black Dragon South Division away fixture of the new year.

The twelfth place Mickleover now managed by ex South Normanton FC manager Sean Staton currently sit with a record of four wins, three draws and seven defeats which has left them with 15 points and a -8 goal difference which is better than the three sides above them.

The Opposition:

After an opening day 3-0 home defeat to Hucknall Town, Mickleover went unbeaten for their next five league and cup games as they drew with Sherwood Colliery, Aslockton & Orston and Teversal and wins over Blidworth Welfare and Matlock Town Reserves.

The run eventually ended with a 3-2 defeat away to South Normanton FC before the same losing score line followed against Hilton Harriers. The RBL side then managed to win their next three league games against AFC Kiburn, Holbrook St Michaels and Keyworth United before seeing defeats to Pinxton and then Sherwood in their last matches of the 2017.

The Derbyshire side are now on a run of four successive defeats and have only scored one goal in that period.

Last Time We Met:

This is the first meeting of ourselves and Mickleover this season with the reverse fixture being played on Saturday 24th March 2018.

Last time the team's met Eastwood ran out comfortable winners with a first half penalty from Chay Bettridge and a hat-trick from Rory Smith ensured a 4-1 win for the home side. The Red Badgers last visit to Poppyfields was in November 2016 again Eastwood came away with the three points and a clean sheet, goals from Patrick Webb, James Hallam and Rory Smith sealed a 3-0 win.

Player Watch:

Bradley Foley - Bradley was on the score sheet in Mickleover’s last win against Keyworth, that strike has left him with 6 goals in 7 starts as well as 2 player of the match awards.
