Eastwood CFC snatched a late equaliser at home against Belper United to earn a point!

Eastwood CFC snatched a late equaliser at home against Belper United to earn a point after a below par performance. Paddy Webb was recalled to the starting eleven along with Dave Jones after Rory Smith broke down in the pre match warm up.

Belper started the game much the better side and were very comfortable in possession of the ball. Belper's full backs played very high up the pitch and were good outlets which started to cause Eastwood problems defensively from the the kick off. Belper created the fist chance of the game when Rushby missed the target from the edge of the area after 10 minutes.

Eastwood did create a couple of half decent chances of their own through Paddy Webb and Kaylum Mitchell but much to often in the final third Eastwood's ball retention wasn't good enough on the day to put the visiting defence under any serious pressure.
Belper scored a deserved goal on 36 minutes when again they were allowed to play from defence to attack far to easily and Rushby was on hand with a fine finish into the top corner from 20 yards.

HT: Eastwood CFC 0-1 Belper United

Eastwood improved in the second half and managed to keep possession of the ball for longer periods and started to ask more questions of the visiting defence but again as the first half their final ball and decision making in and around the final third was poor.

On the hour Belper created a chance to double their lead but Walker was on hand to produce a fine double save from a close range effort. The game became very open in the final minutes with both sides pushing forward leaving gaps defensively. Belper struck the base of the post with Walker beaten and Eastwood forced several set plays. Eastwood grabbed their equaliser on 88 minutes from one of their set plays. Danny Hayes nodded back across goal a John Whitehurst corner and Kaylum Mitchell reacted the quickest from close range to fire into the roof of the net.
