ECFC 4 v TEVERSAL FC 3

Eastwood secured back to back league victories with a home win against Teversal in an entertaining game for the neutral with 7 goals. However, both defensives would be disappointed with the goals they conceded. Eastwood made 1 change from their midweek cup defeat to Basford with fit-again Kieran Knight replacing Joe Butler.

Eastwood started the game on the front foot and looked dangerous going forward especially down both flanks with Paddy Webb and Kieran Knight causing the visitors numerous problems. Eastwood opened the scoring on 11 minutes when Kieran Knight made a powerful run down the right side and pulled the ball back for John Whitehurst to apply a smart finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Eastwood created several good goal scoring opportunities for the remaining of the half but was wasteful in front of goal. In fact, it was Teversal who equalised on 35 minutes after being under pressure. The visiting forward capitalised on a missing control by Keeper Jake Pearson to finish. Eastwood was sloppy in possession and the hard working Teversal had chances of their own to take the lead in the latter stages of the half. On the stroke of half time, Eastwood increased their lead when Kieran Knight powerful shot fired into the roof of the net via a deflection.

Half-Time 2.1

As stages of the first half again Eastwood were sloppy in possession at the start of the half and it was no great surprise when Teversal equalised on 52 minutes from the penalty spot. Eastwood gradually got back into the game and started to create chances but again were wasteful with their chances. Eastwood added their third goal on 75 minutes. Chay Betteridge converting a penalty after Danny Hayes was fouled in the area.

On 83 minutes Eastwood secured the points when Kieran Knight worked himself space on the edge of the area and his powerful shot beat the visiting keeper.
With the last kick of the game, Teversal added their third goal from an inswinging corner which the centre half nodded home from close range.

Full-Time 4.3
