Joint Reserves manager Charlie Edwards reflects back on his first month in charge.

Eastwood Reserves have made a terrific start to life under joint managers Andy Tring and Charlie Edwards winning their opening four games, setting them up for a great season. A 3-0 home defeat of Mickleover Sports Reserves was followed up with back to back away victories over Holbrook Sports Reserves and last years runners up Hucknall Town Reserves, the month was rounded off last night with a comprehensive 4-0 hammering of Holbrook Sports Reserves. I sat down with Charlie Edwards and reflected back on what has been a promising first month.

How do you feel you have started the season?

"We've had a very good and positive start to the season but it's early days and we still have areas for improvement. Each game is as important as the next and we can not take anything for granted."

Based on the start you have had what are your aspirations for where you can finish in the league this year?

"It would be foolish of me to predict this after four games but both Andy and I are positive about this year, however if we are not finishing there or there about come end of April it will be disappointing."

Which players have impressed you the most so far?

"Its difficult to talk about individuals as the team itself has been impressive. The integration of new and experienced players has been a credit to every single one of them."

How have the Academy lads helped your squad?

"We had a plan at the start of the year to integrate more youth from our academy teams. It was a gamble that has paid off for the likes of Kieran Knight who has impressed scoring eight goals in his first four senior games and creating himself even more chances. A very dominant start for a lad who is only 17. It's a large jump from kids football to Reserve league football. They have coped very well and we are continuing to explore more players who can make that jump one of them, Dylan Miles made his debut in goal last night."

Are you happy with your current squad or do you feel you need to add players?

"We are both happy and as a wider club we have good strength and depth so we are not actively looking but this is football, players may leave others may become available and if opportunities arise we will explore them"

Eastwood Reserves face arguably their toughest game yet on Saturday when they travel to last years league winners Sherwood Colliery Reserves 3pm kick off.
