Keyworth United 2-3 Eastwood CFC Development

By Zander Shayler

It was Friday Night Lights again for the Development team, this time away at Keyworth.

Last week’s comeback draw felt like a defeat so the objective was to get back to winning ways. The good news was Eastwood welcomed the return of James Duncan to the back four.

Eastwood dominated the first twenty minutes of the game and looked comfortable all over the park, Kieran Knight opened the scoring with a brilliant shot that rifled into the far corner of the net, this was then followed up with a cross come shot by Nathan Brough which found the top corner.

Weak refereeing and silly fouls cost Eastwood when Keyworth pulled one back with poor marking from a free kick at the back post.

Keyworth then got back into the game and drew level when a cross to the back post was headed back across the goal and into the net.

The second half was all Eastwood and with the introduction of Joe Butler and going two up top the game was dominated by Eastwood. However chances were missed and you felt that it was going to be one of those nights.

Then a deep cross found Joe Butler who headed towards the goal...….

Now both Joe and Kieran claiming it, however the Assistant Ref claimed that ball over the line before Kieran touched it.

Eastwood then held on for a nervy last 5 minutes, but in the end were well worthy of the win.
