Eastwood CFC Development suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Sandiacre Town on Wednesday night.

After the positivity of Friday night Eastwood came back down to earth with a dump!

Disappointing news beforehand is that James Duncan is out for four to five weeks and his presence was missed greatly at the back, add to that those on holiday TK, Kal O’ Dowd and Tom Eastwood, however there was enough players to step in to replace those missing.

A nervous start resulted in a goal for Sandicare from Jordan Smith out muscling the Eastwood defence to score with a header. Eastwood then started to get a foothold in the game and a great pass down the side of the full back saw Kieran Knight latch onto the ball and as the goal keeper advanced he lobbed the ball in from 25 yards.

Eastwood then took control for a bit and good one touch football from Dave Jones and Cal McGarry put through Tom Coupe who shot low into the corner.

There were still some nervous moments at the back and too many silly free kicks given away. One that resulted in Jordan Smith scoring again this time direct from a free kick into the corner.

From there Eastwood then tried to take control and the ever willing Owen Everton found himself in some space in the box he unleashed a powerful left foot shot made it 3-2 to Eastwood, however they could not hold onto it long and from a long throw again Jordan Smith outmuscled the defence at the back post to make it 3-3 at Half Time.

The second half started off in similar vein and Sandicare took the lead with a speculative 35 yard shot that deceived Jake Pearson in goal.

From there Eastwood applied the pressure and had four clear cut chances and it only looked a matter of time before they would equalise, however things got desperate and the flowing football from Eastwood resulted more to long balls.

The game was then out of Eastwood's reach when Jordan Smith fired a superb shot into the net from outside the box and the game was over at 3-5.

A disappointing end and Eastwood have to realise that there are hard challenges ahead in this competitive league.
