A look ahead of the opening weekend of fixtures in the Nottinghamshire Senior League Preview - 10/11 August 2018

The new season of the Nottinghamshire Senior League gets underway on Friday evening, 10th August. In what promises to be a very competitive Premier Division, runners up for the last two seasons, Awsworth Villa, commence proceedings with a trip to Hollinwood Lane to face Calverton Miners Welfare. It will be a much changed Villa line-up after losing their manager in the off season but there will be many familiar faces for Calvo as they look to improve on their seventh place finish last time out.

One of the new teams to the NSL, Eastwood CFC Development, are also in action, as they welcome Wollaton to the Play Soccer USA 3G Arena. Eastwood will be looking to push on at the top end of the division after dominating at a tier lower last term whereas it is more likely to be a season of consolidation for the visitors.

Rounding out the Friday Premier Division ties are AFC Dunkirk and Magdala Amateurs who meet at the Ron Steel Sports Ground.

There’s also Friday night action in Division One, however, where Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, after taking voluntary relegation, entertain the Division Two champions and Junior Cup holders, Woodthorpe Park Rangers, at the Stag Ground. Woodthorpe are hoping that they are able to persuade their, and Division Two’s, top marksman from last season, Markell Bailey, to re-join their ranks for the coming campaign.

On Saturday in the Premier Division there’s a meeting of teams who were two divisions apart last season as Radcliffe Olympic, joining from the East Midlands Counties League, welcome Stapleford Town, promoted as winners of Division One, to the Wharf Lane Recreation Ground.

Aslockton & Orston make their second debut in the NSL following FA league realignment but it will be their inaugural Premier Division encounter as they host Southwell City at Orston Recreation Ground.

Bilborough Town, who narrowly escaped relegation last term, entertain Keyworth United at the Harvey Hadden Stadium. Cotgrave and Attenborough meet at Woodview, FC Cavaliers kick off their campaign by welcoming Bingham Town to the Southglade Sports Centre and Sandiacre Town open with a trip to Eagle Valley to face Gedling Southbank.

Former Premier Division champions, Ruddington Village, find themselves in Division One for the coming campaign. They start with a trip to Bestwood Miners Welfare following their move over from the NAA.

The teams promoted from Division Two alongside Woodthorpe, Bridgford United and Burton Joyce, begin with trips to Beeston and Southwell City Reserves respectively.

There are a number of new teams in Division Two, a couple of which meet at Sherwood Fields as Robin Hood Colts host Clifton All Whites Development.
