Last night we came across a team who had just won division 2 as champions whilst they also dropped in a signed Derby county academy player.

We started off ok but Bagthorpe put us under some pressure and eventually broke the deadlock leading 1-0. The game continued at a fast pace with breaks at either end until a Bagthorpe corner resulted in an own goal being scored 2-0. This seemed a little harsh as we had started to get our game going, playing some nice football at times whilst defending really well against Bagthorpe attacks.

HT 0-2

Alfie had done well in goal commanding his line whilst being vocal, our team as a whole competed & matched our opponents, but in the second half we stepped out & upped our game significantly.

We moved the ball quicker and was a constant threat on the break through some wonderful creative pass and move play, we seemed to have so many corners and near misses but overall these were very positive signs as the Bagthorpe keeper was kept really busy. We were on top until Bagthorpe caught us on the break resulting in a corner to which they scored a third from a good header. 3/0 (against the run of play). This again showed us the task and team we faced, but we didn't give up.

Eastwood came again attack after attack until good play resulted in JAYDEN slotting home. Further Eastwood attacks resulted in three 1 on 1s with the Bagthorpe keeper but he seemed to have look on his side as all three chances went begging.

In the dying seconds Alfie raced off his line to produce a great clearance to keep the score 1-3 whilst great recovery play from defenders and midfield.

Thank you to the lads who helped out in defence (Owen, Reece, Jayden) in assisting Daniel U, and to Brendon and Charlie who stepped in for their 2nd run out on the night.

Lads so many positive performances on the night and we deserved much more from the game. Overall with a few tweaks and a couple of months down the line the Blacks will be ready to push on in division 2.

Well done boys really pleased with you all. ?⚽?
