ECFC Black U10 1-2 Long Eaton United Yellow U10
Today we played very well and I was most impressed with how we moved the ball around quickly and accurately from back to front.
Long Eaton were a threat but we counter attacked superbly well and this led to our first goal with some excellent team passing & then Thomas sliding Reuben in to round the keeper and slot home for 1-0.
We as a team were defending well & the work rate from our players was top draw, but then Long Eaton had a good passage of play to make the score 1-1 at HT. an even first half.
Second half Long Eaton had there spells but we neutralised many a threat and we took the game to them with once again some super play.
Chances came as Reece switched the play to Reuben who controlled and smashed a volley goal bound only for the keeper to save, Thomas then struck a bullet of a shot for the keeper to save once more then finally Thomas struck again for it to be cleared off the line, or did it go over ? Either way Long Eaton then broke and then struck our bar ?.
We continued to play well with Owen and Liam playing very well in the middle whilst Cody, Reece and Reuben put in the distance and work rate on the wings with good energy. Thomas led the line really well, whilst Blaydon & Alfie K looked solid at the back.
Alfie had a good game in goal and was unfortunate with Long Eaton 2nd as we cleared but it fell kindly for them to go a goal ahead. Either way we continued with our good battling and passing game matching Long Eaton all over the pitch we looked on top and in control and at the end once more Owen Hayes collected the ball and we broke, he slipped in Reuben for him to wip it across goal only for the keeper to pluck it out the top corner ?.
Overall a fantastic display from the whole of our team today. Long Eaton's keeper producing some worldly saves & fine margins giving Long Eaton the win.
Boys you can compete at the very top level and this performance was without Taylor and Daniel who will only add strength to our games in the new year.
