Bagthorpe Athletic U10 1-2 ECFC Black U10

A few squad alterations and time on the training ground was required for the tough challenge what lies ahead of us today. Bagthorpe a big physical team seemed pumped up for this game but I feel I prepared our boys well for the KO.

I asked the boys to stay disciplined in their shape and hit Bagthorpe fast on the break, and to be fair we did just that.

Eastwood came out of the traps like a greyhound and we pounded Bagthorpe pinning them in their own half with some fantastic fast paced pass and movement by our boys. We looked solid at the back and Bagthorpe looked shell shocked as we went two nil up at HT with two excellent goals by Reuben and Reece.

The score could of been more but for the excellence of the opposition keeper.

All the boys were putting in a real shift to my delight.

Second half we knew Bagthorpe would come at us and as we looked to add a third they hit us on the counter after loosing the ball too easily and they progressed well making it 1-2.

Eastwood had further chances but perhaps at times we were unlucky or tried a little too much in front of goal.

Bagthorpe however went for a gung ho approach with direct football, but the excellence of Alfie in goal and a solid back line proved the difference.

Overall this was a great start for the Blacks with the whole team working very hard.

Both keepers were excellent for both teams but overall our passing style of play at pace pleased me with some great defensive play out from the back with confidence.
This division will be tough & Bagthorpe Manager called me after to say how well we had played in an excellent u10 YEL game of football.
Fantastic boys - a few areas to cover a training but a great start.
