Eastwood progress to the last 16 of the SCL Development League Cup with a convincing victory against Alfreton Town.

Eastwood made the one change from the side that beat Alfreton 7-1 two weeks ago Joe Spencer returned from injury to replace Abdou Cole.

Alfreton looked stronger than the team they put a couple of weeks ago and the first twenty minutes of the game was fairly even Alfreton had an early penalty shout waved away by the stand in referee.

The opening goal came after twenty-six minutes tremendous work by full back Steven Beejer on the left hand side saw him glide into the box he picked out Kieran Knight who pulled the ball out on to the edge of the box for Joe Spencer to place the ball into the corner of the net.

Eastwood doubled their lead six minutes before the break, Liam Smith played through Kieran Knight who showed great strength to shrug off the Alfreton defender he then cut inside on to his left foot and placed the ball in to the top corner.

HT 2-0

Alfreton came out for the second half fired up and caused Eastwood some real problems in the early stages of the second half. However with seventy-five minutes played Kieran Knight grabbed his second and Eastwood's third, the big striker latched on to Bayleigh Reid ball down the line, Knight then turned and with the ball still bouncing Knight volleyed home from the edge area 3-0.

Then ten minutes of madness saw Alfreton get in to the game, first an awful back pass from Kal Greaves was finished by the Alfreton striker then a goalkeeper error meant with eight minutes left to play it was 3-2.

Eastwood confirmed the win when Kieran Knight rounded off the scoring with his hat-trick goal.
