1st game of the season for our U12's and we were looking to get off to a great start, but it wasn't to be in the end despite putting on a decent show.

The game started with the boys in a confident mood and we put together some lovely play, passing and moving the ball well, putting their defence under some considerable pressure. The opening goal for Eastwood came after Suarez made a good run into the box, twisting and turning the defenders but his shot was deemed not to of crossed the line by the ref, but he battled well for it to keep it in the box, while the defenders tried to clear it. It broke loose at the back post for a tap in from Craig. A great start to the game for Eastwood. Holy Spirit though had chances of their own and at times carved our defence open, on numerous occasions we failed to clear the ball or were drawn to the ball, leaving players unmarked behind us. It was on one of these occasions that Holy Spirit got an equaliser. With Nathan and Cameron in the middle they started to spray the ball out wide to Josh and Callum to make runs down the wings, both putting in some good balls into the box, and both having chances either going wide of the goal or over the bar.

Eastwood managed to get themselves back in front with a cracking shot from Nathan, but again we shot ourselves in the foot when an attempted clearance from Jaydan spun in the wrong direction towards his own goal, rattling the corner of the post (would of been an absolute scorcher of a shot, if at the other end..lol) and the Holy Spirit forward was on hand to knock the rebound home for the equaliser.

2-2 at half time.

With changes made, on came Lewis on the wing who put in a good shift outfield, and Matthew just behind the front 2. We had chances to score but failed to get our shots away and Holy Spirit hit us on the break to take the lead after failing to clear the ball. We came back at them quickly and Nathan equalised with his second of the game. The game became end to end with Suarez and Cameron working hard in the middle but both just holding onto the ball a little too long before trying to pass it. Holy Spirit once again taking the lead 4-3 before a great run from the back saw Craig beat a couple of players and fire a cracking shot into the net. With just 10mins left we had our heads up and were on the attack, winning a number of corners in succession. We were caught on the break again but Jack managed to get back to clear for a corner. It was from this corner that Jack and Cameron didn't communicate with each other and collided in the box, resulting in an unfortunate headed own goal by Cam, and with this heading the back of Jack's head, to which we had to take him off as a precaution.

Through all our efforts in the last few minutes we just could find that elusive equaliser, but a great effort by everyone today, well done boys, things to work on still but you will get there. Parent's Player was Nathan and the Manager's Player went to Jack, well done to our super little twins.
