Eastwood CFC Saturday Gold U12 2-3 Holy Spirit Celtic Green U12

For the majority of the first half the boys certainly looked second best. The lack of games since the 2nd of Dec probably playing a part in that. We just weren't as sharp and on it as we were towards the end of the Winter League, allowing them too much time on the ball and not closing down quick enough, to be honest I thought we looked scared to play the passing football I know we can do. Allowing them the time in the middle to just take long range shots at our goal, if it wasn't for Doddsy saving our bacon with save after save, the score line would of been a lot higher.

Some of those saves were out of this world. It was from one of these long range shots that Holy Spirit took the lead after no one closed the player down. To our credit though we got back in the game when Craig got on the a lovely pass from Josh, and he ran through to blast it past the keeper. Going into the half time break though 2-1 down after yet another long range shot eluded Doddsy in goal was tough to take.

The second half saw more grit and determination from Eastwood, along with more fight. We created more chances and started passing the ball around better, but we just couldn't find a way past their keeper who made a lot of saves. Craig had plenty of chances hitting the post and keeper saving his shots.

Holy Spirit went 3-1 up before Jaydan saved a free kick and then Eastwood went on the counter attack. A goal mouth scrabble in the Holy Spirit box ended with Mikey managing to knock it in for 3-2. For all Eastwood's efforts though we just couldn't find that equaliser and the game ended in a 3-2 defeat.

Parent's Player went the Doddsy for his heroics in goal in the first half and Manager's went to both Lewis and Mikey. Well done boys.
