Eastwood welcomed Pelican Colts to Coronation Park this week and the game started in the same fashion as their previous encounter with end to end football and plenty of attacking threat from both sides.

It was Eastwood who opened the scoring though; Conrad Hawryluk was fouled wide on the left, having been found in space superbly by Ellis Ward, and he stepped up himself to fire a stunning shot into the top right corner.

A period of Pelican pressure followed but excellent defending from Rylan Jackson, Ronnie May and Ellis meant that keeper Euan Parker was only forced to make one save. What a save it was though as he tipped over from a dipping long range drive.

Back up the other end Eastwood continued to make chances of their own, Rylan and Ronnie shot just over and Max Jukes was denied by a good block, but it remained 1-0 at half time.

Pelican came out quickest in the second half and Euan was again called into action a couple of times before he was finally beaten by an excellent finish from the edge of the area to level things up.

Eastwood went back on the attack immediately however and with Kaiden Anyanwu leading from the back it seemed only a matter of time before they regained the lead. Shots from Ronnie and Max went just wide before Conrad and Max again were denied by some top class goalkeeping.

The visitors could consider themselves fortunate to be on level terms coming into the last 10 minutes and they took full advantage, a good finish coming at the end of some neat play to make it 2-1.

More Eastwood pressure followed. Logan Allen in particular was determined to get his side back into it and his cross, following a driving run into the box, led to appeals for hand ball from his teammates. Unfortunately the referee saw nothing.

There was still time for one more chance and it came from good hold up play by Max who was able to roll the ball back to Rylan to have a shot but again it went just wide. 1-2 at the final whistle and Eastwood can be very proud of a display that on another day would have seen them go away with at least a draw.
