Eastwood CFC under 8's kicked off their new season with an away draw against Teversal.

Having been moved up four level's Eastwood played their first game in division three and didn't disappoint. Eastwood started promisingly moving the ball quickly, but the bobbly grass pitch and the slight bit of rain did disrupt some of Eastwood's play. Teversal took the lead but Eastwood quickly fired back when Alfie Naylor smashes home from close range. Harley Wood then went on a fantastic run before finishing superbly on his left foot. Charlie made a couple of good saves in the Eastwood goal, rushing out quickly and taking the ball from the Teversal striker's feet, Eastwood were rarely troubled in fairness with Toby Fletcher and Harley Dawson defending really well. Rafe Hastings went on a couple of good runs and whipped in some great crosses with Sam Dudley and Alfie Naylor missing great oppurtunities. Harley Wood's corner were a threat though out the game but the Teversal keeper stood up well and kept the score down, three minutes before the half time break Harley Wood found himself free inside the Teversal penalty box with an empty goal to aim the ball got stuck under his feet and the home side cleared the ball.

HT: Teversal U8 1-2 Eastwood CFC U8

In the third ten minutes Eastwood played how they did all game, attacking really well just lacking that clinical finish in front of goal. Rafe and Sam both had opportunities but that elusive third goal for Eastwood just didn't seem like it was coming. Alfie Naylor was brought down inside the area but the reff awarded Eastwood a free-kick in a bizarre moment of the game. Eastwood entered in to the final quarter of the game looking to see out the win, however with five minutes left on the watch Eastwood's corner was cleared away and Teversal broke on the counter attack with the Eastwood boys struggling to run back on the heavy and wet pitch there was little Charlie could do and Teversal equalised. Eastwood heads didn't drop for long and they showed great character as Harley Dawson released Rafe Hastings down the left hand side Rafe's great run was matched with an equally good finish. Eastwood back in front. Once again Eastwood struggled to shut up shop and got caught on the break again.

FT: Teversal U8 3-3 Eastwood CFC U8

Great showing from the young red badgers who certainly deserved to win the game, never the less the boys did well on to next week.

Man of The Match: Rafe Hastings
