With key players Harley Wood and Rafe Hastings missing, Eastwood took a small squad of six to Hucknall to face Division 2 side Rolls Royce Merlin.

Eastwood started slow and fell behind with some quick fire goals and found themselves 4-0 down after ten minutes played. Once again it looked like the curse of grass had caught up with the young red badgers again.

After a stern talking too Eastwood woke up in the second quarter of the game and started to move the ball a lot quicker and started making some better decisions, Alfie Naylor continued to impress his powerful corner hit Sam Dudley to net Eastwood’s first goal of the game. Then just as Eastwood were getting a foothold in the game but like in previous games got caught on the counter and received a sucker punch as Rolls scored their fifth of the game 5-1. Alfie Naylor then went on another powerful run before smashing the ball past the helpless keeper. Sam Dudley continued to press forward and he made some incredible runs but just wasn’t strong enough to hold off the opposition.

HT Rolls 5-2 Eastwood

Rolls then brought back on some of their stronger players and Charlie did really well to keep the score down making some excellent saves. Harley Dawson defended really well and had one of his better games. The home side then stuck two more goals away as Eastwood struggled to break down the physical Rolls Royce defence.

The final ten minutes probably saw Eastwood have their best spell of the game as Toby and Keaton got a lot more involved another terrific run from Alfie this time on the right hand side his cross found Sam Dudley who finished well, Alfie then grabbed his second of the game after another lung bursting run and a powerful strike past the keeper.
