Eastwood CFC U18 fell to their first defeat in five games against third-placed Mansfield Town in the Notts Youth League

Defensive errors proved costly as Eastwood CFC U18 fell to their first defeat in five games against third-placed Mansfield Town in the Notts Youth League at Chewton Street on Saturday.

Mansfield raced into a three-goal lead before Eastwood pulled goals back through Fletcher Parker and Lewis Fletcher just before the break.

Jack Evans levelled for Eastwood in a much improved second-half performance but it was the visitors who left with the points after a lapse of concentration in the Eastwood back line.

Manager Simon Bryant described the performance as a tale of two halves but remained upbeat despite the loss;

"We began poorly and left ourselves with a mountain to climb", said Bryant.
Credit to the boys, they got themselves back into the game but our concentration levels, discipline and application have to be of a higher standard, especially when we play teams like Mansfield who are well organised and like us want to get the ball down and play".

"Both myself and Matt had a few harsh words to say at half-time but we were pleased with the reaction and thought we deserved at least a point".

"Harvey New, Fletcher Parker and Darnell Forde were outstanding in the second half but unfortunately it wasn't to be our day".

"As always, we will take the positives and continue to work hard in order to get where we want to be".
