The Red Badgers come out on top in epic local derby encounter in front of a bumper crowd.

A goal in each half from in form Sam Moore, was enough to secure all three points as the visitors were made to dig in after a late fight back from Town.

“I thought our lads were superb from minute one, it was a very similar theme to the Barrow game on Tuesday night in terms of we dominated the ball and the chances in the first half and could of been out of sight by half time. We’re missing the skipper Jared in the centre of the pitch but Jack Andrews stepped up yesterday and was different class.”

“Everyone will talk about the red card, but I feel it had a positive effect on Hucknall as up until that point I didn’t think they were playing great and it gave their management team something to motivate them with at half time.”

“We always look dangerous from set pieces not only offering an ariel threat in Parker, Andrews and Leak, but we have arguably two of the best deliveries of the football in the league in McGarry and Harrison, so when the free-kick was given with a minute left I was always confident.”

“I thought the gaffer got his team selection and formation spot on and to a man it was an excellent display and we were worthy winners.”

“On a personal level it was great to have so many of our Junior team players, coaches and parents in attendance yesterday, on and off the field I thought as a club we showed a real togetherness.”

“Hucknall will dust themselves down and I have no doubt come May (if the season finishes) Hucknall will be well in the mix for promotion.”

Jepson on Hucknall:

“I enjoyed that, the win, the lads singing afterwards, the Chairman smiling, the supporters clapping the lads off, brilliant!”

“ With all the goings on in the world it was nice to see so many people watching a local game, I saw Sav (Wayne Savage- Sherwood Boss) before the game and we had a good chat, We caught up and had a laugh, I wish more managers would do that rather than have a perception of me and my club, it’s refreshing, Sav is a Man United fan too so it helps.”

“ Thought we were disciplined and good first half and deserved our lead through Mooresy (Moore) , another great ball by Joey (Harrison). KK (Knight) started wide as I thought they would kick him and interchanged with Mooresy (Sam Moore) well.”

“ I’m sure the talking point wasn’t how well we played first half but the sending off, the officials get a lot of stick and it’s a hard one to judge as I was so far away, what I do know is Joey’s (Harrison) eye socket was broke and regardless of was it wasn’t it, it was dangerous and the ref has made a decision.”

“ We missed chances and should have won easily but fair play to Hucknall who had a go, really surprising to see Butler on the bench and he scored a good goal, no complaints a good strike worthy of winning the game for sure.”

“ We have spirit in our camp and when JT (Jordan Turner) got a free kick out of nothing in injury Palms ( J Palmer) said to me this is it, good ball in for Cal (McGarry) and a fantastic header by Rossy (Parker) which Mooresy (Moore) tapped in to win us the game.”

“ Jack Andrews was faultless today and was man of the match by a country mile, brilliant!, he won every header, tackle and got us playing.”

“ I understand tensions run high and their supporters were unhappy but pushing our 71 year old coach (Paul Walker) after the game on the way in is a disgrace, forget about the sending off and footage of that I hope that supporter can sleep tonight as Hucknall as a club need to stamp this out and control their supporters, not a collective as 99% were supporting their team but this was unacceptable.”

“ Today was our day and when we are able to play again we will be ready.”

“Thank you to our travelling support.”
