After Sunday's FA Women's Cup exit 1st Team gaffer Andy Leith gave his thoughts on the game and how the season has gone so far.

Eastwood CFC Ladies were knocked out of the FA Women's Cup on Sunday going down 5-1 away to Sporting Khalsa WFC.

Khalsa who are a league higher in the Ladies Football Pyramid went behind early on when Paige Singleton opened the scoring after twenty minutes. However the Birmingham side soon regained their composure and went into the break 2-1 ahead. The Second half proved to be 45 minutes to far for Eastwood as Khalsa ran in another three goals sealing the victory and their place in the 2nd Round Proper of the SSE FA Women's Cup.

Manager Andy Leith reaction to the game "Firstly I was very proud to lead the team into the first round proper of the FA Cup, it is a great achievement. We are disappointed to have exited the competition but unfortunately we were beaten by the better side on the day."

"We started brightly playing through the thirds and were able to play out from the back and beat their high press with some success. We took the lead through Paige Singleton who impressed throughout playing in the false 9 role. Our opponents capitalised on a moment of indecision and were then quite fortunate to go in 2-1 up at half time."

"The second half was a different story with our opponents dominating the majority of the second half and our style of play unfortunately going out of the window. After going 3-1 down we adapted a more attacking formation which left us exposed at the back and we conceded 2 more."

"The season so far has very much been a story of two halves, our first 5 competitive games resulted in 5 wins from 5 scoring 25 goals and conceding 2 in the process. Our last 5 competitive games have seen a dip in results; winning 1, losing 2 and drawing 2, scoring 5 and conceding 10. Performances at the start of this period were disappointing but have significantly improved since where we have played some of our best football."

"Our plans for the future will place a huge emphasis on the long term over the short term and will see quite a dramatic shift in our recruitment policy and overall philosophy. We will look to develop and promote our own players as opposed signing a cluster of big name individuals. We have learned recently that the best individuals don’t always make the best team. The team comes first."

"This Sunday we welcome Mansfield Hosiery Mills to the PSUSA Arena. We will do things our way and we will do things the right way. If we do things the right way then the performances and in turn the results will take care of themselves."
