MATCH PREVIEW - Saturday 13th December 2025

Zander Shayler13 Dec - 13:48

No weather fears as we look forward to facing Clay Cross Town tomorrow evening…

Clay Cross Town vs Eastwood CFC
United Counties Football League Premier North
Saturday 13th December 2025 – 5:30pm
Debdale Park Sports and Recreation Ground, NG19 7NS

Eastwood CFC head into the this afternoon looking to extend their impressive unbeaten league run to eight matches. The Red Badgers have also recorded back-to-back clean sheets, but were left frustrated by a resilient Blackstones side last Saturday as the game ended goalless at Coronation Park.

With the league table tightening up, Willis Francis’ side know that three points, combined with favourable results elsewhere, could see them move into the final play-off position. However, one challenge remains clear: Eastwood have won just one of their last six league matches away from home and will need to rediscover their cutting edge on the road.

Clay Cross Town – The Opposition
The hosts have endured a disjointed few weeks, having not played a fixture since 9th November due to multiple postponements and being expelled from the FA Vase. Despite the break, Clay Cross were in excellent form prior to the disruption, winning four of their five league games since their defeat to Eastwood at Coronation Park seven weeks ago.

Clay Cross have played the fewest games in the division, and with fixtures now stacking up, Town will be eager to restart their season with momentum and climb the league table quickly.

Previous Meetings
Eastwood CFC boast an unbeaten record against Saturday’s opponents. The sides have met three times overall, with two Eastwood wins and one draw.

The only previous meeting at Clay Cross came on 1st March 2016, when Eastwood produced a dominant performance in a 4–0 victory. Dave Worger struck twice, while Lewis Bentley and Warren Hatfield added further goals under then-manager Matt McCaul.

Player Watch – Clay Cross Town
Despite their lack of recent fixtures, Clay Cross’ talisman Tim Gregory has been in outstanding goalscoring form. The number 9 has already netted 22 goals in 21 matches, a tally bettered only by league top scorer Matt Cotton. His ability to finish from all angles makes him the key threat Eastwood must contain. The Red Badgers could line up against former player William Robinson after the defending made left Eastwood last month.

Squad Update – Eastwood CFC
Willis Francis is set for both boosts and setbacks ahead of the trip:

  • Lavell White returns from suspension.
  • Phil Watt is unavailable due to a one-match ban after accumulating five yellow cards.
  • Aaron O’Connor and Tyler Blake face late fitness tests as they edges closer to a return.
  • Daniel Elliott and Abdul Saad remain sidelined.
  • Elijah Morris-Wright and Neo Saunders could both return to the matchday squad
  • Thomas Hodgkinson (Ill), Jermain Hollis (injured), Marcus Marshall (injured) and Jake Wright (away) are all unavailable.

With confidence growing and competition for places increasing, Eastwood will feel well-placed to continue their climb up the table.
