MATCH PREVIEW - Saturday 26th April 2025

Zander Shayler25 Apr - 17:14

Our season continues tomorrow afternoon when we look to progress to the play off final.

With Bourne Town winning earlier in the day going into kick off against Belper United the lads knew only a win would be enough to avoid the play off’s. After going in 2-0 down at the break it was a tough ask, made even harder 20 minutes later as Keaton August struck his second and Belper’s third to put an end to any Eastwood hopes, and with Lincoln getting the point they needed both Bourne Town and Eastwood had to settle for the play off’s.

Bourne Town host AFC Mansfield whilst the Red Badgers welcome Boston Town to Coronation Park hoping to secure their third victory over the Poachers this season.

Boston are on an incredible run of form loosing three of their last twenty-seven in the league picking up more points than any other side since the end of September. Town’s last away defeat was at Coronation Park four days before Christmas as a worldy from Terry Hawridge was all that separated the two teams. Boasting the best defensive record in the league Boston are a tough side to break down but they have failed to beat any of the top three sides this season.

Previous meetings: The club’s only win over Boston at Coronation Park was in this season’s win back in December, when a rocket of a strike from Terry Hawkridge earned the Red Badgers all three points in a tough encounter. Prior to that Eastwood hit three without reply in the reverse fixture at the start of the season but overall it is tomorrow’s visitors that boast the better record. Recording four wins from the eight battles and two draws, scoring ten goals, just one more that ECFC. Alex Troke is the top goal scorer in this fixture with four goals, followed by Lucas Dakin and Lee Beeson who are both on two.

Player Watch: Harry Limb has top scored for not only Boston but the entire division this season netting an impressive 35 times, more than ten times better than his total of three last season. The ever present Travis Portas is always someone you can rely on in between the sticks, the big shot stopper has kept 15 clean sheets this campaign in all competitions. Danger man Matthew Cotton is suspended after being shown a straight red card in Town’s recent win over Newark Town.

Squad Update: Daniel Elliott is back and Lavell White is also hopeful of a return. An appearance tomorrow afternoon would mark Jermain Hollis’ 99th in an Eastwood shirt with one more possible game this season if we get there to bring up his century. Sam Wilson and Declan Dunn are both set to make their 46th appearances of the season tomorrow the first time a player has reached that feat in a single season eclipsing the previous total of 45 set by Tyler Blake last season.

We need your support more than ever tomorrow so get behind the lads, we have had nearly a 1,000 attendees at our last two home matches can we break another record this season?
