MATCH PREVIEW - Saturday 29th November 2025

Zander Shayler29 Nov - 10:34

The Red Badgers finish November in the same way they ended October… with a match against Melton Town.

This time though it’s the away fixture as the Red Badgers travel to Melton for the first time since last Christmas. The Red Badgers are in good form with Francis still unbeaten in the league after picking up another point on Tuesday night.

Town picked up an impressive victory over Kimberley before a shock 3-0 defeat at home to Gresley Rovers last time out summed up their season so far. No team has lost more games than the Pork Pies with only Harrowby united conceding more goals than today’s hosts.

Despite the Red Badgers recent good form they have still only won one game away from home in the league this season. A win today for either side would propel them up the league standings with just five points separating 16th from 7th.

Previous meetings: This afternoon’s match up will be the third meeting between the two sides, with each side picking up a 3-1 victory over the other. Town won the last meeting after coming from behind, Thomas Wakely turned Declan Dunn’s corner into his own net to give Eastwood an early lead before Keenan King levelled in first half added time. Second half strikes from Ryan Calver and Kalis Gore earned Melton all the three points. In the last game at The Sign Right Park, a hat trick for Tyler Blake and first goals for the club from Aaron Opoku and Billy Gilles gave Eastwood a 5-1 win. Top goal scorers in this fixture include, Kairo Edwards-John (4), Tyreece Palmer (4) and Tyler Blake (3).

Player Watch: Wide man Luther Munakandafa has scored nine goals in twenty-four appearances this season including netting on two of his three visits to Coronation Park this season (Eastwood CFC & Belper United). Former Red Badgers Ferdinand Bartley is an ever present for Melton the defender made 27 appearances for the Eastwood across two spells under Ball & Thomas.

Squad Update: First Team boss Willis Francis is without Aaron O’Connor, Tyler Blake, Daniel Elliott and Abdul Saad as all four players are ruled out with injury. Academy scholar Alfie Flynn is set to keep his place with Marcus Marshall likely to return to the starting eleven. Jake Wright is back and will captain the side in the absence of Aaron O’Connor. Harvey Ridgley has left the football club.
