MATCH PREVIEW - Wednesday 18th February 2026

Zander Shayler18 Feb - 13:14

Second time lucky tonight as we travel to Hucknall hoping to complete the full game.

18 days on from the original abandoned fixture Eastwood CFC will know that a win tonight would move them in the play off positions.

The Red Badgers made it back to back wins on Saturday afternoon after coming from behind to defeat the league leaders Sherwood Colliery on their own patch. Joel Stevens had given Eastwood the lead mid way through the first half before that strike was cancelled out one minute before the break. Supporters had to wait until the 80th minute for the next goal, where former Red Badgers Kieran Knight looked like he had won it for the hosts only to see Terry Hawkridge equalise three minutes later and Tyler Blake snatch a 90th minute winner to complete the comeback.

Hucknall Town on the other hand haven’t played since the original fixture was cut short meaning they have played just twice since the turn of the year. With that said the games they have played, they have picked up good results, currently boasting form that has seen them go without defeat in their last four taking points off the likes of Clay Cross Town and AFC Mansfield.

In the early weeks of the season the RM Stadium was a fortress with Town picking up three wins from four games however since then its just three wins from twelve at home in all competitions.

Previous meetings: Although the Yellows have come out on top in the last two meetings, the Red Badgers haven’t lost at Hucknall in the league since December 2017 and are unbeaten on their two trips to the RM Stadium with Tyler Blake scoring on both occasions. On the head to head record Hucknall do just edge it with eight wins from a possible twenty with five stalemates. Top goal scorers in this fixture are Joseph Ashurst (8), Adam Nelson (6), Matt Brian & Niall Towle (5) & Patrick Webb & Joe Butler (4).

Player Watch: There are plenty of familiar faces in the Hucknall ranks. Namely Dan Tuck who has recently joined from Kimberley, Luis Parkes, Aaron Short and Ferdinand Bartley have all previously lined up for Eastwood CFC. A man to watch is Aaron Coyle who always seems to score against us, he has netted thirteen goals so far this season across his spells with Newark & Sherwood United and Hucknall Town. Another player that always scores against us is Joey Ashurst who has scored four in his last four against the Red Badgers.

Squad Update: Willis Francis and Mark Clarke have no fresh injury concerns, Joel Stevens is available after limping off at half time on Saturday. Jermain Hollis is unavailable, with Toby Woodward set to take his place. Callum Cocks and Kieran Hayes are both set to feature at the ground they both made their unofficial debuts.
