Despite Eastwood starting the better of the two sides, with Kieran Knight having the ball in the back of the net after only eight minutes to then see the flag raised for offside. Newark were clinical and early goals from Lewis Brownhill and Ben Hutchinson inside the first twenty minutes put the hosts 2-0 up.

After regrouping at half time Watson replaced Parker and Eastwood dominated the first quarter of the hour of the second period but couldn’t break down a organised Flowserve defence, Zak Goodson put the game to bed on 72 minutes scoring Newark’s third.

The Eastwood boss had this to say;

“Whilst I am gutted we went out It gives me an understanding of where we are at.”

“Newark are a good side and I’m sure they will come close to winning the cup.”

“We have 10 cup finals to achieve promotion and we need to look at the squad in terms of adding a couple due to injuries.”
