Jack, a youngster that joined the club at Under 14’s broke into the first team a month before his 17th birthday having appeared for the Under 21’s six months prior. He debuted as a 81st minute substitute in one of Stephen Kirkham’s final games in charge.
Jack went on to be a mainstay in the Under 21’s eventually captaining the side before cementing his place in the senior team in March 2022. Messom went on to make 58 1st team appearances which included two goals as he moved from central midfielder to full back.
The second of the two goals came on his 19th birthday, from a well struck free kick earning him the goal of the month accolade. Jack captained the first team for a few minutes as he took the armband from Aaron O’Connor in a 3-1 win over AFC Mansfield last October.
Jack leaves on his own accord having played for the club since 2018
Messom has played every position apart from goalkeeper (I’m sure he would of done if asked), he has been sin binned, he has been concussed, he’s won supporters player of the season 2022/23, Chairman’s player of the season 2022/23, Player of the year 2022, Goal of the month, Young Player of the year 2021/22, he really has done it all.
Jack will continue with his role of head coach of Soccer School and our Under 7’s Red
Thank you for everything and good luck for the future!
