Prolific Striker Returns To Coronation Park

Zander Shayler21 Aug - 18:27

After five seasons away Kieren Watson returns to the club on a dual registration from Carlton Town.

The Veteran Striker who represented Eastwood CFC during the 2019/20 season is back at the club where he scored eight goals in ten appearances under the management of James Jepson. Watson got off to the best possible start, netting a hat trick on his debut before going on to the score in a further three successive fixtures against Sherwood Colliery, Clipstone and Dunkirk. Watson then picked up an injury at the end of August 2019 that would see him ruled out of action until February 2020. Upon his return Watson found the net again as a 67th minute substitute in a 3-0 win over Rainworth Miners Welfare. His final goal for the club was during his final appearance on a day where Carl Westcarr and Ben Gowing both found the net in a 3-1 win over Shirebrook Town, shortly after the game the season was cut short due to Covid-19 and Watson returned to Hallam FC the following season.

Watson has also represented the likes of Staveley MW, Hucknall Town, AFC Mansfield and Sheffield FC scoring goals everywhere he has been, but has been most prolific for Hallam FC scoring over 100 goals across two spells for the club.

Joint manager Daryll Thomas said: “ Delighted to add Kiz to the squad on a dual registration from Carlton Town, with OC likely to be out for at least a couple of weeks after last weekend and Kam struggling with his fitness it was important to add to the front line which was already really stretched.”

“Kieren brings a wealth of experience and he is a proven goalscorer we’re really excited to integrate him into the squad and get him some much needed minutes as well. We will hopefully be adding one more forward in the next few days as well it’s important to have 4/5 regularly contributing with goals so watch this space.”

“Thank you to Clerky & Mark for helping us out.”
