ECFC U21’s return to winning ways with back to back victories after a eight week break....

Before Friday’s fixture the Under 21’s hadn’t played a game since December 2nd, just over eight weeks ago, with a host of changes once again including youngsters, trialists and a couple of first teamers needing minutes under their belt.

After a poor showing in the opening forty-five minutes the young Red Badgers managed to go in at the break level with a Kyle Wrenn levelling the scoreline four minutes before half time. After a few stern words in the interval the side responded really well and could of easily scored more. Ayleal Dill bagging a brace and Kamani Wilson with an excellent finish to round off the scoring.

Less than 72 hours later Eastwood played Derby in the reverse league fixture. A few enforced changes with Sam Meakin unwell, Lewis Scott unavailable with work and a couple more absentee’s but lads performed really well matching Fridays result but managing the game far better and in effect the game was done after sixty minutes. Another brace from Ayleal Dill accompanied with another free kick from Kyle Wrenn and a goal from the returning Harrison Rowley.

Speaking to gaffer Alexander Shayler he had the following to say;

“It’s good, Derby on paper have performed really well this season and we knew they’d be a good side with young players, qualified and enthusiastic coaches and knew we would be in for a good game.” “The game Friday we were poor in the first half lads going through the motions and a lot of new faces not knowing each other, it felt like a training game. We had a good chat at half time and the lads responded brilliantly and dominated the the second period and were worthy of the three points.” “In Monday’s game we were solid from the offset, experience in the likes of Tom Plummer and Kyle Wrenn shone through and guided the younger lads through the game.”

“It's a really good few days at senior level the numbers at training are excellent two wins for the 21’s first team winning as well it’s all really positive”

“Big Thankyou to Scott Messom who has stepped in for the recent fixtures, his commitment and help has been invaluable to the side this season.”
