Linby CW 1-5 ECFC

Again Eastwood had to shuffle their squad but decided on a 4-3-3 formation for the day giving Harry Allen his first start of the season along with young Nick Wain.

Eastwood got off to the perfect start after 2 minutes Harry Allen worked himself space down the right flank and squared across the penalty area Paddy Webb reacted the quickest to side foot home from 8 yards. Linby responded and equalised 10 minutes later when Jenkinson rose above his marker to head home off a set play. The goal seemed to spur Linby into life and Weaver had their next chance but Jack Walker smothered his effort from close range. Linby also posed a threat from set plays with Jenkinson and Spray causing Eastwood problems.

After several minutes being on the back foot Eastwood found their composure and regained the lead on 25 minutes. Greg Conn burst into the area and was blocked with a penalty being awarded. Paddy Webb made no mistake sending the home keeper the wrong way. Eastwood doubled their lead in first half injury time. James Hallam got clear and his resulting cross was parried by the keeper with Rory Smith on hand to nod home into the empty net.

Half-Time 1-3

Second half was a typical scrappy local derby. Greg Conn had Eastwood best chance early on but could only direct his header straight at the keeper. Jack Smith had Eastwood next effort striking the post with Webb following up but his effort was blocked on the line. Eastwood added a fourth on 75 minutes with Webb completing his hat-trick with a typical angled drive into the far corner. Rory Smith completed the scoring with 5 minutes remaining with a cool finish inside the area.
