Eastwood got off to the best possible start, even if the score line was a little flattening.

Graham Street Prims fielded a side much changed from last season noticeably a new goalkeeper and former Radford striker Connor Moore in the Prims starting eleven.

The away side started the better team moving the ball side to side with confidence and was a constant threat in the opening twenty minutes with McDonald in the Eastwood goal being called in to action on numerous occasions. With twenty-one minutes Eastwood played a punt down field was flicked on by Patrick Webb and the ball fell at the feet of prolific striker Kieren Watson who netted his first goal of the campaign with ease. Four minutes later great determination from Kieran Knight who bursts into the box before firing across for Patrick Webb to score Eastwood's second. Having been out played for twenty minutes Eastwood were now in the ascendency and could have been three or four goals to the good before the break. Two minutes before half time Ross Parker shielded the ball out of play and the frustrated Prims central midfielder Brandon Gwinnutt kicked out and was immediately shown a red card.

HT ECFC 2-0 Graham Street Prims

The second half on paper should of be pretty routine with the Eastwood front three causing real problems for the prims defence and the away side being down to ten men it should be pretty straight forward, but not too long a go Eastwood were 2-0 up at the break cruising at home with the opposition a man down but somehow Kimberley battled back and drew the game 2-2 surely the same couldn't happen again??????

Watson put an end to that, the strike trio of Webb, Watson and Knight linking up well as Knight drove into the box and was brought down inside the area, Watson stepped up and had his initial effort saved but made no mistake with the rebound smashing it into the roof of the net to score his second. It was 4-0 when Webb lifted the ball into the path of Watson who chested the ball down before firing his volley into the far corner securing his hattrick on his debut.

Prims did have a couple of chances in the dying minutes of the game to get a consolation goal but the home defence stood strong and Eastwood held out for the clean sheet and most importantly three points, the Red Badgers first shut out since the 0-0 draw at Sherwood in the beginning of April.

The win puts Eastwood top of the table on goal difference with an eleven day break until the next game against Sherwood Colliery on Wednesday 14th August.
