After winning his first game in charge on Tuesday night Francis made three changes. Marcus Marshall was recalled to the starting eleven with Toby Woodward starting just his second game in over six months, Aaron O’Connor also made the starting XI for the first time since the end of August. Daniel Elliott, Jermain Hollis and Will Robinson all moved to the bench as the games come thick and fast.
The hosts got off to the best possible start when Lewis Hopewell gave them to the lead with just four minutes on the clock. Marcus Marshall levelled the game up eight minutes later as Eastwood began to get a foot hold in the game. Hodgkinson and Saad teamed up well down the left hand side as the Red Badger looked the mostly likely to get the third goal of the game.
Abdul Saad was then replaced as the fullback suffered another knee injury, he was replaced by Will Robinson and the hosts retook the lead almost instantly through central defender Max Dutton who headed in from a corner as Eastwood conceded from ANOTHER set piece.
As the half drew to a close Eastwood looked content with getting to the break just a goal behind and regroup ahead of the second half, but Heather had other ideas. In added time of the first period the home skipper Kian Taylor struck home to give the John’s a two goal lead at half time
HT: Heather St John 3-1 Eastwood CFC
What followed was a really limp performance from Eastwood who despite the gaffer making four second half alterations nothing really changed and the hosts ran out comfortable winners in the end as they progressed to the Third Round Proper of the competition.
