

Daryll Thomas and Martin Ball made two adjustments from the eleven that started a week ago. Jermain Hollis (ankle), Ricky Starbuck (calf) both remained sidelined whilst Phil Watt made his first start since getting sent off at Coleshill, Jordan Fankwe debuted. Ryan Tait and Riece Bertram both moved to the bench, Lavell White was named in the squad for the first time since limping off in the 3-1 FA Cup Replay defeat two weeks ago. Lynden Joyce, Jake Wright, Alex Troke, Declan Dunn and Sam Wilson all continued their record of starting every game so far this season, Aaron O’Connor captained the side for 39th time.
With over half the league in FA Vase action Boston Town against Eastwood CFC was the league game to watch with Belper United against Skegness Town also set to be a mouth watering clash. Boston who went into the afternoon having won all four of their league fixtures so far three points behind Eastwood having played one game fewer.
Eastwood started the better team and opened the scoring with thirteen minutes on the clock, Fankwe played the ball into Westcarr who then released Tyler Blake down the right wing, Blake shaped to cross the ball before checking onto his left foot and being brought down leaving referee Istvan Mod with no choice but to point to the spot. Up stepped this season’s top goal scorer Aaron O’Connor who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and made it three goals from three penalties this season.
Eastwood continued to dominate possession with Fankwe and Dunn seeing plenty of the football. Aaron O’Connor and Craig Westcarr both blazed shots over the bar before Alex Troke doubled the visitors lead five minutes before the break. Declan Dunn with the in swinging corner that was superbly glanced home by Alex Troke. Harry Limb did rattle the post with seconds remaining of the first period but Eastwood hung on take a two goal lead, at half time.

More of the same would of been the message from the Eastwood management team during the break and the lads delivered, Jordan Fankwe involved again his switch of play picked out Oliver Robinson who chests the ball down before playing a quick one-two and crossing into the box for Tyler Blake, Blake’s effort was blocked by Alex Troke was on hand to knock the loose ball home for his second and Eastwood’s third of the afternoon.
With tired legs in midfield Ryan Tait was introduced and starting pulling the strings, first finding Tyler Blake who’s effort went narrowly wide and then picking out the run of Aaron O’Connor who’s shot was blocked at the last second. Westcarr and Commons both had chances to put the game to bed with Alex Troke also having a penalty shout waved away.
Boston Town 0-3 Eastwood CFC
One of the best away performances for many years in a dominant display from start to finish against a side tipped by many to win the title this season. We are only six games in and its far too early to make any predictions but the lads have made a great start to the season, in fact the best start to a season taking more points from the opening six games than in the last six seasons.
The shut out was Eastwood’s fourth clean sheet of the season double the amount that was recorded at this stage last season. The Red Badgers were also the first side since Melton Town in March to stop Boston from scoring.
The win was the first for Eastwood CFC over Boston Town in the seventh attempt, with Alex Troke netting back to back braces at The Mortgages For You Stadium having scored both goals in January’s 2-2 draw with The Poachers.
