Codnor Boys U8 2-3 Eastwood CFC Black U8

Eastwood started slow with Codnor finding space and attacking easily. Codnor opened the scoring with around ten minutes played after good build up play Codnor’s captain found some space inside the box and volleyed home. Codnor continued to impress and looked like scoring again but a couple of fantastic saves from debutant Freddie in the Eastwood goal meant it remained 1-0. After a couple of changes Eastwood worked their way in to the game, and some good pressure from Eastwood’s forward line resulted in a miss kick in the Codnor defence and the ball deflected off Sam Dudley in to the back of the net for the equaliser.

The second half Eastwood kicked it up a gear and looked a lot more lively, creating a lot more chances and keeping the ball much better. Harry Goddard continued to stand out after another mazy run Harry found himself on the edge of the box before having his shot blocked and the ball eventually fell to Aiden Mitchell to poke home.

Eastwood continued to have chances Harry, Tasimba and Sam all having shot saves. Then a sucker punch from Codnor as they broke on the counter attack and scored the equaliser.

Eastwood didn’t panic and played out some great passages of play, the final ten minutes of the game Eastwood had reduced the home side to counter attacks, but Codnor kept coming forward and Freddie made three or four excellent saves rushing out and narrowing the angle against a talented Codnor strike force.

Eastwood scored the deserved winner four minutes from time Tasimba’s fantastic corner was brilliantly flicked home by Harry.

There was still time for another fantastic Freddie save as Eastwood saw the game out to earn a deserved victory.
